Your cat’s litter box habits can tell you a lot about their health, especially when those habits change. With the SiiPet LitterLens, an AI-powered litter box camera, you can keep tabs on your cat’s litter box usage and receive real-time alerts when stool anomalies or urinary stress behaviors are detected.
The SiiPet LitterLens promises to simplify multi-cat care and help pet owners spot the early warning signs of urinary health concerns. But how does it hold up in real-world testing? Find out in this detailed review.
Why Trust Cats.com
I’ve been a cat owner for over 16 years and have had as many as three cats at a time. Over the years, my cats and I have dealt with our fair share of health scares but the toughest ones to nail down are the litter box issues. With three cats sharing multiple litter boxes, it takes a little while to figure out which cat is peeing more than usual, or having diarrhea, or spraying urine over the side of the litter box.
In times like these, I would have loved to be able to simply pull up an app on my phone to see video evidence (and to be able to share it with my veterinarian). That’s why the SiiPet LitterLens immediately caught my attention. I loved the idea of a camera keeping a closer eye on my cats’ litter box habits than I ever could.
To test the SiiPet LitterLens, I installed one near each of my cats’ two favorite litter boxes—one open litter box and one fully enclosed. Over the next 10 days, I let the cameras do their work, all the while making observations about the insights offered in the app. To complement my personal experience, I spent several hours researching the manufacturer, exploring the product’s design, and reading customer reviews to see what other cat owners think of it.
SiiPet Brand Overview

Kate Barrington / Cats.com
SiiPet is a global pet-tech startup founded by Brian Fu. The company debuted with the launch of a pet behavior analysis camera, the PawTrack Camera, in June of 2024. SiiPet’s most recent development, the LitterLens Litter Box Camera, was released in October of 2025.
According to founder Brian Fu, SiiPet products are designed to support pet parents who want to be more proactive in caring for their cats. In addition to capturing video for pet parents to enjoy and share, SiiPet’s smart solutions catalogue pet behavior data and issue alerts when something is identified as abnormal.
The PawTrack Camera, for instance, features a pet-focused design powered by AI technology that tracks and monitors pets, using artificial intelligence to capture highlight moments with aesthetic visual quality. It’s able to recognize individual pets and identify unusual behaviors like excessive scratching or limping, automatically capturing video users can easily share with veterinary experts.
SiiPet’s latest innovation, the LitterLens Litter Box Camera, builds on the concept of AI-powered behavior analysis, specifically for litter box usage. Launched in October 2025, the LitterLens is currently sold on the SiiPet website and on Amazon.com. It typically retails for $149 but is available for the lowest-ever price of $99 for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
SiiPet LitterLens Litter Box Camera Features

Kate Barrington / Cats.com
The SiiPet LitterLens is an innovative pet camera that provides AI-powered insights into your cat’s litter box habits. Equipped with an HD camera and motion-activated light, the LitterLens automatically records every litter box visit, tracking key metrics like frequency, duration, and even stool conditions. This data enables pet parents to more closely monitor key aspects of their cat’s health and to take action quickly when problems arise.
This litter box camera is thoughtfully designed in both form and function. It’s a cute, owl-shaped device equipped with a long-lasting rechargeable battery. You can keep the camera plugged in or enjoy a 1-month wireless runtime on a single charge. The camera hangs on an easy-to-install wall mount, so you can quickly remove it for cleaning or charging. SiiPet recommends installing a LitterLens on each litter box your cat uses for optimal results.
To ensure precision and minimize false alerts, the LitterLens is equipped with a CatSense+ detection system. Each time your cat enters the litter box, their visit will be recorded and tagged in one of three ways: Anomaly, Visit, or Lingering. When your cat enters but doesn’t use the litter box, it’s labeled Lingering while use of the litter box earns the tag Visit.
Over time, the LitterLens “learns” from the data it accumulates. If it detects a departure from your cat’s normal litter box activity or visually identifies a change in the shape, color, or texture of their stool, it’s labeled an Anomaly. In the event an anomaly occurs, you’ll have data and video to share with your vet to help diagnose the issue quickly.
Another standout feature of the LitterLens is its Pet ID+ multi-cat recognition system. When you set up the LitterLens, you can create profiles for individual cats and the device will automatically catalogue and analyze each cat’s data separately. Users can even share video recordings from their LitterLens device.
For pet parents concerned about privacy or longevity, the LitterLens is a strong choice. The camera only records when a cat is detected in the litter box, and you can pause recordings entirely by putting the device in Sleep Mode. Plus, with continuous OTA upgrades, the device will stay up-to-date and grow smarter over time instead of declining in function.
All LitterLens users receive free 3-day logging and tracking, litter visit alerts, and 24/7 real-time viewing. If you want to take advantage of advanced features like abnormal stool alerts, irregular visit alerts, or long-term data analytics, you’ll need to purchase a Pro ($5.90/month) or Pro+ ($9.90/month) subscription. Through the end of December, new users will receive a free 2-month Pro+ subscription. In the new year, new users will qualify for a 1-month free trial of the Pro+ plan after activating their account.

What Did Our Test Cats Think?

Kate Barrington / Cats.com
My two cats, Biscuit and Munchkin, are always happy to help me test out new products (even if they don’t realize they’re doing it). To get a sense for how the SiiPet LitterLens works, I installed one inside Munchkin’s favorite enclosed litter box and a second one above one of the open litter pans in my basement. Installation was incredibly simple, requiring nothing more than the included bracket and adhesive pad, along with a flat surface to mount them on.
Once installed, I powered up the LitterLens then opened the SiiPet app and followed the prompts to set up my new devices and create profiles for my cats. I found the SiiPet app very intuitive and easy to use. By activating the Real-Time camera view, I was able to adjust the camera’s positioning and rename my devices. Then, it was just a matter of waiting for my cats to visit the litter box.
Neither of my cats seemed to notice the LitterLens cameras at all, even when the motion-activated light turned on (which happened almost every time I walked by the litter box). I was curious to see how many false alerts would pop up and whether the frequent activation would drain the battery, but I was pleasantly surprised. The device only recorded video when a cat entered its field of vision and the light didn’t stay on longer than necessary to register the difference.
When my cats’ first few visits popped up in the app, it prompted me to identify the cat in the video so it could start cataloging data. My two cats are very visually distinct, so the app quickly learned to tell them apart and logged future visits under each cat’s profile. Between the high-definition camera and strong illumination from the nightlight, every video was very clear—to the point that I could pick out individual grains of litter.
Over the course of my testing period, the SiiPet LitterLens worked pretty reliably. No anomalies occurred, so I wasn’t able to test the alert functions but the AI technology effectively distinguished between a cat lingering in the litter box and actually using it. The app started to compile data on my cats’ litter box usage after a few days, offering insights into the number of visits per day and the average duration of each visit.
While I wasn’t able to test some of the LitterLens’ more advanced features, my experience left me with a positive impression. It’s clear that the true value of this device comes from long-term use. The more data the device gathers, the more accurately it will be able to identify anomalies—including subtle shifts in litter box behavior, not just obvious changes in stool color or consistency.
What Do Customers Think of the SiiPet LitterLens Litter Box Camera?
Because the LitterLens had only recently launched by the time I started testing it, customer reviews were very limited. There were fewer than a dozen on the brand’s website (all 5-stars). Reviews on Amazon.com were equally limited but more varied in terms of rating.
Positive Reviews
Satisfied customers are generally pleased with the LitterLens’ design, accuracy, and ability to identify multiple cats. Several users called out the privacy-friendly design, saying they appreciate that the device only records cats.
“The app automatically tags each video by cat, so I don’t have to scroll through tons of clips to figure things out. It even knows the difference between a cat actually using the litter box and one just walking by. If your cat has urinary issues, like going to the box often but not peeing, you’d notice it right away.” – Minghan Chen on Amazon.com, November 2, 2025
“Setup took minutes and it works with our covered litter box. The app recognizes both cats and logs every visit, and the alerts made it obvious when one started going more often, super helpful for catching changes early.” Cat.Named.Pepper on Amazon.com, October 30, 2025
Negative Reviews
There were only a handful of negative reviews of the SiiPet LitterLens at the time I was testing it. One user who was unable to get the device to work expressed frustration with the limited instructions included with the device and on the manufacturer’s website. Some other users have commented that the nightlight could be disruptive, depending where your litter box is located.
“Not ideal for bedrooms, as the built-in night vision can be triggered when cats pass by at night, which may disturb sleep and drain the battery.” – Kayla Chen on Amazon.com, November 6, 2025
“I’ve been trying to pair this thing for an hour but it doesn’t work. There are no instructions included, just a piece of paper with a QR code, but the site it brings up is empty, just says “Instruction Manuals” across the top with nothing listed.” – Remington on Amazon.com, October 22, 2025
Overall, Is the SiiPet LitterLens a Good Choice?
In the realm of pet tech, the SiiPet LitterLens strikes an attractive balance in price and performance. A single LitterLens retails for $149 but the per-unit price goes down significantly when you bundle two or three of the same color. And because it’s powered by AI technology, the LitterLens gets smarter over time, making it a long-term investment in your cat’s health.
Particularly if you have a cat prone to urinary issues, the LitterLens could be a valuable tool to help you monitor your cat’s litter box usage and identify problems early. Not only does it track how many times your cat visits the litter box, but it can tell whether they actually use it or not. If your cat is making frequent visits but not urinating, the app may identify the trend more quickly than you could yourself.
Though the LitterLens shows promise, it’s still very new to the market and its strongest benefits take time to become realized. If you’re interested in trying out new tech, however, it could be a great buy.
